What guitar should I buy? Which guitar fits my style?
How to choose a guitar that would best serve my needs?
And quite frankly, this is not an easy question to answer. I really don’t know which guitar you should buy, but I know one thing.
There is a perfect guitar for everybody.
And if you ask which one is that, here is the answer.
The perfect guitar for you is the one that you love to play. It’s the one that you just won’t put down.
It doesn’t matter how expensive it was, it doesn’t matter what brand it is. It doesn’t really matter what shape it is or what kind of pickups does it have. What matters is that this guitar can help you truly express your musical ideas.
But you won’t recognize the perfect guitar right away. You have to spend some time with it.
You two need to build a relationship, and all relationships take time to build.
You have to learn what kind of strings sound best with that particular guitar. You’ve got to learn how to get the best tone out of that little piece of wood.
And the more you play it, the better it sounds. The more you play it, the more you learn about its character. You will learn how to make it squeal and how make it whisper.
I have played quite a few guitars but the ones that I love the most are the ones that spend a lot of time with me. Because only when I play that guitar a lot, I can learn how to truly appreciate its qualities.
And same as with all relationships, some days are better than others. Someday you feel like a rock star and you can play anything, the next day your playing is sloppy and that guitar just doesn’t seem to fit your hands anymore. That’s the way it is. We all have our ups and downs.
If you have found a guitar that is perfect for you, you are very lucky. It is a real pleasure to have a companion that can help you make your ideas come to this world.
The more I play the more I realize how important it is for me to have a guitar that inspires me to create and play. I truly believe that it is a blessing to have such a guitar and I am grateful for that.
Recently I have bought a new guitar. It is a semi hollow Epiphone Lucille and I really like to play it. I don’t know if it is the prefect guitar for me yet, but I am eager to find out.
Keep on playing my friends.
